What is an exponent?

An exponent is a small, raised number that tells how many times a base number should be multiplied by itself.

What is a power?

A power is the result of raising a base number to an exponent.

What does 2³ represent?

2³ represents 2 raised to the power of 3, which means multiplying 2 by itself 3 times (2 * 2 * 2 = 8).

What does 5² represent?

5² represents 5 raised to the power of 2, which means multiplying 5 by itself 2 times (5 * 5 = 25).

What is the value of 4⁰?

The value of any number raised to the power of 0 is always 1. So, 4⁰ = 1.

What is the value of 6¹?

The value of any number raised to the power of 1 is the number itself. So, 6¹ = 6.

Simplify: 2³ * 2².

2³ * 2² = 2^(3+2) = 2⁵ = 32.

Simplify: (4²)³.

(4²)³ = 4^(2*3) = 4⁶ = 4096.

Simplify: 8⁴ ÷ 8².

8⁴ ÷ 8² = 8^(4-2) = 8² = 64.

Simplify: (5⁴)².

(5⁴)² = 5^(4*2) = 5⁸.

What is the value of (-3)²?

The value of a negative number raised to an even exponent is positive. So, (-3)² = 9.

What is the value of (-2)³?

The value of a negative number raised to an odd exponent is negative. So, (-2)³ = -8.

Simplify: (2⁻³)⁻².

(2⁻³)⁻² = 2^((-3)*(-2)) = 2^6 = 64.

Simplify: (10⁻²)⁻¹.

(10⁻²)⁻¹ = 10^((-2)*(-1)) = 10² = 100.

Simplify: (7⁴) ÷ 7².

(7⁴) ÷ 7² = 7^(4-2) = 7² = 49.
