What is the scientific method?

The systematic approach scientists use to answer questions about the natural world.

What is an independent variable?

The variable that is manipulated or changed by the researcher.

What is a dependent variable?

The variable that is being measured or observed and is expected to change in response to the independent variable.

What is a control group?

The group in an experiment that does not receive the treatment or independent variable being tested.

What is a hypothesis?

An educated prediction or proposed explanation for an observation or question.

What is a sample size?

The number of individuals or items included in a study or experiment.

What is a quantitative data?

Data that can be measured and expressed numerically.

What is a qualitative data?

Data that is descriptive and non-numerical.

What is peer review?

The process in which experts in a field evaluate and provide feedback on scientific research before publication.

What is a double-blind study?

A study where both the participants and the researchers are unaware of which group is receiving the treatment or control.

What is DNA sequencing?

The process of determining the order of nucleotides (A, T, C, G) in a DNA molecule.

What is cross-sectional research?

A research method that analyzes data collected from a population or a representative subset at one specific point in time.

What is longitudinal research?

A research method that collects data from the same subjects over a period of time to study long-term effects and changes.

What is animal testing?

The use of animals in scientific experimentation to study the effects of a substance or intervention.

What is statistical analysis?

The process of collecting, organizing, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data to draw meaningful conclusions.
