What is fluid mechanics?

The study of how fluids behave and interact with their environment.

What are some properties of fluids?

Fluids can flow, have no fixed shape, and can exert pressure.

What is viscosity?

A measure of a fluid's resistance to flow.

What is Pascal's law?

Pressure exerted on a fluid is transmitted equally in all directions.

What is Bernoulli's principle?

As the speed of a fluid increases, its pressure decreases.

What is buoyancy?

The upward force exerted on an object immersed in a fluid.

What is Archimedes' principle?

The buoyant force on an object is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.

What is surface tension?

The force that acts on the surface of a liquid and tends to minimize its area.

What is hydrostatic pressure?

The pressure exerted by a fluid at rest due to the force of gravity.

What is the equation for calculating pressure?

Pressure = Force / Area

What is the equation for calculating density?

Density = Mass / Volume

What is the equation for calculating buoyant force?

Buoyant force = Weight of fluid displaced

What is the equation for calculating flow rate?

Flow rate = Volume / Time

What is the principle of continuity?

The mass flow rate of a fluid is constant in a closed system.

What is an example of Bernoulli's principle in everyday life?

An airplane wing generating lift.
